19/8/24 - 4 stars A hidden gem in North Syd. Introduced by a friend who works in the building and they definitely dish out some elite drinks. Staff are very friendly too! Strawberry matcha latte Flavour: SS, 9/10. I don't have much of a reference point but this was excellently well balanced and not overly sweet Consistency: SS, 9/10. Quite creamy yet smooth Value: B, 6/10. $9 is a little expensive though

A hidden gem in North Sydney, Public Coffee rewards customers who seek its hidden location down a lane across from North Sydney station. If you do find it you will be rewarded. Coffee is outstanding. Public source their beans from Primary Coffee. I have had 3 flat whites there the last week and each one has been consistently excellent. Creamy, good mouth feel with chocolate and caramel flavours coming through. Then there's the food, just outstanding. We have tried the prawn omelette, its as epic as an omelette can get. If you're up for lunch, go for the bulgogi pasta. It's spicy, and creamy with al dente spaghetti. Note you have a choice of pasta when you order. Plush banquettes and leather seats make it the perfect spot for a bougie 1:1, the best team lunch or an intimate lunch with your spouse like we enjoyed.

My wife and I dropped in for breakfast around 10.00 am on Tuesday. The cafe was busy and full of office workers, some having meetings and some noisy. When we sat down at a nice table, mid cafe, the noisy conversation was so loud, we moved to the window table for relief. Amazingly, the noise abated after we moved. I went to the counter to order and pay. My wife had the prawn omelette ($19) consisting of eggs, prawns, prawn bisque, puffed rice and some buttered, crispy sourdough toast. She was happy with the size of the omelette and she really enjoyed the different tastes in the meal. I ordered the Baked Eggs ($22) consisting of two poached eggs, pork mince, sautéed spinach, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes and two half slices of toasted and buttered sourdough bread. I asked for no chilli. The meal was delicious and I enjoyed the combination of tastes in the dish as well, so much that I ate every drop. We washed our meal down with cups of chai tea ($6 each) made with honey soaked leaves and blended with soy milk, very tasty. All staff were warm, friendly and helpful. Unlike other cafes in the area that all sell similar meals, breakfast choices at Public Coffee are innovative and the different tastes are delicious. Breakfast here is highly recommended.

Coffee quality – 5/5 Nice to see a well-priced batch brew in North Sydney. Ambiance – 5/5 Bottom floor of a corporate building but still vibey. Furnishings are nice. Lots of hustle and bustle. Food – 4/5 Standard, but well-priced, cafe fare. Good for remote work? – 3.5/5 There are always seats available; however, the cafe tends to get quite noisy with a lot of 'coffee catch-ups' going on. I might try the bench further away next time? ORDER: Batch brew, almond croissant
